Son’s First Deer

September 26, 2010

It was the second morning of the Early Youth Hunt in Michigan. The previous day we only saw one deer in the morning and the bucks started moving in the evening. We saw multiple bucks, but none of them were within my son’s comfortable shooting distance. We ended the night with a positive attitude that the following morning would be full of action.

We spotted this buck at 7:35am while eating in a sugar beet field. The distance was 105 yards and needless to say, the deer was down at 7:37am. The shot was a little off, but thankfully it was a spine shot and no tracking was necessary.

This nice buck is going to cost dad some money. A first deer like this needs to be put on the wall.
